Racine and Laramie Cigars
21 October 2009 in Cigar Shops
I was wandering around old town San Diego before I headed to the cigar shop that I was aiming for and found this shop. This is quite possibly the coolest shop I have ever been in. It’s like stepping into the old west. The guys working in the shop are dressed in old west style clothing that really adds to the feel of the shop.
The humidor is the smoking room. I don’t see any kind of humidification I guess since we are in San Diego there’s not much need for it. Its not a very big area. They can seat about ten people or so. I picked up a Casa Magna torpedo and it is smoking great. The prices seem to be ok. I have seen better, but for the west coast it’s pretty good. There are a few guys sitting here smoking but they are wrapped up in other conversations so I haven’t had a chance to talk to them about the shop.
So we got into a conversation about cigars and it seems that everyone was in agreement that the Casa Magna is a good smoke. One of the gentlemen was talking about the Sancho Panza double maduro, which is one of my favorites, so we had a great talk about that. It was closing time and I guess one of the guys sitting and smoking with us owns a wine shop that you can smoke at. They invited me along but I declined, I really need to find some food and then I am going to go over to the shop I was originally aiming for. More on the after dinner which is Mexican of course since I am in Old town.
I’ll get back to you in a bit.
Sean

Hi from Racine & Laramie! Thanks for your visit, I’m really glad you enjoyed our store. To answer your question about the humidification- we have two BIG units that keep the entire store humidified. We try to hide them as well as we can, I’m glad to see we are doing an good job. If you ever come by again stop in, say hello and chat about great smokes. Also, you really should go visit Hacienda de las Rosas tasting room (William’s wine tasting room) it’s wonderful.
